Biography


Dr. Shahjada Selim is an accomplished endocrinologist, academician, clinical researcher, and medical editor serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Endocrinology at Bangladesh Medical University, Bangladesh. With a broad academic and clinical portfolio spanning endocrinology, diabetes, metabolic medicine, thyroid disorders, obesity, and reproductive endocrinology, he has established a strong profile in clinical research and evidence-based medicine.


Dr. Selim has played leading roles in national and international research initiatives, including multicenter clinical studies, randomized and non-randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, observational research, and clinical guideline development. His research interests encompass diabetes and diabetic complications, cardiometabolic health, obesity, thyroid disorders, thyroid disease in pregnancy, polycystic ovary syndrome, reproductive endocrinology, osteoporosis, vitamin D disorders, and the emerging relationship between endocrine-disrupting chemicals and metabolic health.


His scholarly contributions include publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, with research appearing in journals such as The Lancet Global Health, BMC Endocrine Disorders, Frontiers in Endocrinology, and Endocrine Practice. He has also contributed to clinical guidelines, systematic reviews, and multidisciplinary research addressing contemporary challenges in endocrine and metabolic health.


Beyond his research activities, Dr. Selim has demonstrated substantial leadership in professional societies and academic publishing. He serves as General Secretary of the Bangladesh Endocrine Society, Executive Committee Member of the International Diabetes Federation South-East Asia region, Organizing Secretary of the Bangladesh Thyroid Society, and Treasurer of the Bangladesh Non-Communicable Disease Forum. He is also Associate Editor of the Bangladesh Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism and Sub-editor of the BSMMU Journal.


Dr. Selim is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE), Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, UK (FRSM), and Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).


As a member of the Editorial Board of OA-Gateway, Dr. Selim brings valuable expertise in clinical endocrinology, diabetes and metabolic medicine, research methodology, evidence appraisal, scientific writing, peer review, and academic publishing.
